Living It Up: 5 Experiences Every College Student Should Have

College isn’t all books and classes. There are a lot of life experiences that can change your perspective and give you great stories to tell the folks back home. Here are five amazing experiences that every college student should have.

#1 Campus Initiation Traditions

Most colleges and universities have some not-so-secret initiation rituals. These rituals are harmless ways of becoming a true-blood part of your school. These rituals are not hazing situations because they are voluntary and any campus sanctioned ritual will cause no harm to the participants.

Some of them involve drinking, kissing, or other things that may go against the beliefs of some students. If you don’t feel comfortable participating, then read up on stories of people who have. The point is knowing your school’s history and understanding the culture.

#2 Attend a Sorority or Fraternity Party

Most Greek Clubs host at least one party for people curious or interested in rushing. You don’t have to rush to see what it’s like. Besides, you might just have the time of your life.

If you’re not interested in a wild, boozy party, you’re in luck. There are many fraternities and sororities that don’t allow alcohol or drugs at their parties. Do some digging to find the right group for you.

#3 Attend a Sporting Event

Nothing will put school spirit into your blood than attending a school sporting event. Whether it’s football, basketball, gymnastics, or dance, your school probably participates in at least one sport that piques your interest. So wear your school colors and go cheer for the athletes. You won’t regret it.

#4 Follow Campus Politics

Your college student body president has a lot of sway over clubs, campus improvements, and more. Follow the debates, the policy changes, and the ideas your student representative has to offer. Get passionate about your school. Who knows? You might just find yourself running for office.

#5 Explore Your School’s Landmarks

Some university and college campuses have museums, historical book collections, and other famous sites. Make sure you explore them all before you graduate. Knowing the interesting facts, and the incredible landmarks of your school can help you take a little more pride in your education. You also might just find a new favorite place to decompress after a long day.

Collge is about getting an all around education. Part of your learning must take place outside of the classroom through experiences. Let yourself live and be part of your campus community and culture. You will value your college memories much more if you make a few in the thrill of the best years of your life.
